Energent turbine powers the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai

China's first Kalina cycle power plant was started up successfully at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China in April, 2010. At the heart of the plant was an Energent Euler Turbine very similar to the Microsteam® Turbine Power System, a 275 kWe system designed for steam PRV replacement. The turbine was modified for use with the ammonia-water mixture found in the Kalina cycle. The turbine was built under a rush schedule, and completed in only eight weeks - four weeks ahead of schedule.

The unit was first shipped to an off-site facility in Shanghai where the entire system was testing using a water heater to simulate the solar source. Pictured to the left is the final installation facility on-site at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai
